Accessibility (ADA, a11y)

Accessibility ("a11y") is about making sure shoppers with disabilities (visual, motor, auditory, cognitive) can browse, understand, and buy without friction—whether they rely on a keyboard, a screen reader, higher contrast, or reduced motion. We value inclusive commerce and continue refining the theme using current best practices.

Is the theme compliant with ADA?

The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) is a U.S. civil rights law—not a checklist or a single technical spec. In the web context, merchants and auditors typically reference WCAG (often 2.1 Level AA) as a practical yardstick: keyboard access, alternative text, sufficient contrast, meaningful labels, and consistent structure.

No theme can promise absolute legal compliance because the final result depends on your own content, design decisions, custom code, and installed apps. We are NOT repsonsible of accessibility issues. Our theme ships with solid accessibility foundations and we have not yet received reports of accessibility issues caused solely by the core theme. If you receive a notice that appears rooted in unmodified theme code, contact support with details (URL, steps, assistive tech). Issues introduced by customization or third‑party additions fall outside the theme’s responsibility.

Best practices (your role)

A strong base can still be undermined by content or add‑ons. Keep these simple habits:

  • Be selective with apps: extra scripts can add non‑semantic markup or disrupt keyboard flow. Ask vendors about accessibility before committing.
  • Write clear, descriptive UI text: replace vague links or buttons like “Learn more” with specific intent (“Learn about sizing”). Provide concise, accurate alt text; leave decorative images empty.
  • Preserve contrast: verify new color combinations meet at least WCAG AA (4.5:1 for body text). Use a contrast checker after theme color changes.
  • Use media thoughtfully: motion and video should support—not replace—essential information. Add captions or text alternatives for key video/audio.

Combined with the theme’s semantic structure, visible focus states, keyboard support, and reduced‑motion respect, these practices help keep your storefront broadly usable while lowering risk.
