Countdown Block

What This Block Does

Countdown blocks display live timers that count down to specific dates or for set durations, creating urgency and encouraging immediate action. They're powerful tools for driving conversions during sales, launches, or time-sensitive promotions.

Key Settings to Configure

Countdown Type

Date Countdown: Counts down to a specific date and time

  • When to use: Product launches, sale end dates, event start times
  • Best practice: Use real dates that match your actual promotions
  • Time zones: Choose between customer's local time or a specific time zone

Timer Countdown: Counts down for a set number of minutes from when each customer first sees it

  • When to use: Limited-time offers, checkout urgency, flash sales
  • Duration: Set in minutes (1440 minutes = 24 hours)
  • Reset option: Choose whether timer resets for returning customers

After Countdown Ends

Action Options: What happens when the timer reaches zero

  • Hide: Countdown disappears (clean, minimal approach)
  • Show Message: Display custom text like "Sale Ended" or "Check back soon"
  • Keep Showing: Timer stays at 00:00:00 (not recommended - reduces credibility)

Pro Tips for Success

Countdown Best Practices

  • Honor your deadlines: Never extend countdowns after they end - this destroys trust
  • Match real promotions: Only use countdowns for genuine time-limited offers
  • Clear context: Make sure customers understand what the countdown is for
  • Strategic placement: Put countdowns near purchase buttons for maximum impact

Common Mistakes

  • Fake urgency: Using countdowns without real deadlines damages credibility
  • Too many timers: Multiple countdowns on the same page can overwhelm customers
  • Poor placement: Countdowns work best when customers understand what's time-limited
  • Extending deadlines: If you extend a sale, start a new countdown rather than adding time
