Divider Block

What This Block Does

Divider blocks create horizontal lines that visually separate different content areas, helping organize information and improve readability. They're simple but effective tools for creating clean, structured layouts.

Perfect for: Separating product features, dividing testimonials, organizing FAQ sections, creating visual breaks in long content, structuring pricing information

How to Add It

Step 1: Add the Divider Block

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online StoreThemes
  2. Click Customize next to your live theme
  3. Navigate to any section that supports blocks
  4. Click Add block and choose Divider Block from the list

Step 2: Configure Your Divider

  1. Choose the line thickness (Thin, Normal, or Thick)
  2. Select the line style (Solid, Dashed, Dotted, or Double)
  3. Adjust spacing above and below the divider as needed

Key Settings to Configure

Line Appearance

Thickness: Control how prominent the divider appears

  • Thin: Subtle separation for closely related content
  • Normal: Standard visibility for most use cases
  • Thick: Bold separation for major content divisions
  • When to use: Match thickness to the importance of the separation

Style: Choose the visual pattern of the line

  • Solid: Clean, professional look (most common choice)
  • Dashed: Informal, modern appearance
  • Dotted: Subtle, decorative separation
  • Double: Formal, traditional look for important divisions

Spacing

Padding: Control white space around the divider

  • Best practice: Use consistent spacing throughout your page
  • Pro tip: More padding creates stronger separation between content sections

Pro Tips for Success

Divider Best Practices

  • Use sparingly: Too many dividers can make content feel chopped up
  • Consistent styling: Use the same thickness and style throughout similar content
  • Match your brand: Choose styles that fit your overall design aesthetic
  • Consider alternatives: Sometimes extra spacing works better than visible lines

Common Mistakes

  • Overuse: Don't divide every piece of content - group related items together
  • Inconsistent styles: Mixing different thicknesses and styles looks unprofessional
  • Poor placement: Dividers should separate logically different content, not arbitrary sections
